Picture of the week | Smithfarms 100% Pure Kona Coffee

$my grandmother (born 1886) was well known through out Hawaii for her excellent Mango Chutney. \"Oh we love Una\'s Chutney!\" and it was fun to make her recipe and think of her. Harder nowadays because people cut down mango trees and especially the common mango she used. but we found one. 5 hours of slicing mangoes the first day w/2 people and about 7 hours of cooking the next.$

$about 3 weeks later and growing well. they try to snuggle under their mama still-- but too cute!! to see tails and beaks poking out from the hen\'s wings and feathers.$

$the mama hen has about 11 chicks per clutch if she is successful- this one has been. they scratch around for the many bugs in our healthy soil and Bob can\'t help himself and tosses chicken tid-bits like old rice-because they are irresistibly adorable.$

$as I get out of my car and weave around the coffee to get into the house, I\'ve seen these beautiful cherries and so took a photo with my iPhone$

$it\'s the rainy season here during the summer- which coffee loves as it grows. we have pretty spectacular sunsets on occasion too.$

$we have wild chickens all over our farm. the hatch is usually near 12- hence the dozen eggs idea- but the actually number who survive to adulthood is about 2. Hawks, cats and even dogs snatch them up. On one hand we are sad when that happens but then we remind ourselves, \"we are crazy!\" because we\'d have hundreds of chickens scratching our farm up if not for Mother Nature. c\'est l;a vie.$

$this young female chameleon\'s mouth is open so she can look bigger and scarier. they have no defense other than that.$

$our daughter and her 2 sons. sitting on our newly marked road \"thing\"- for wnat of a better word. Tis the official name of Filipino Clubhouse Road. Bruner was an engineer and a lot of the banks of soil on this steep road have carefully placed stones to keep the soil from slipping away - Bruner\'s design long ago$
