This is the seal you will find on your roasted coffee bags! We pay 5 Cents each for these seals and the money goes to support the Kona Coffee Farmer Organization (KCFA). It is a group dedicated to just the Kona Coffee farmer. That is what we are Kona Coffee Farmers!

Farmers are not processors. We grow the stuff, processors do process it but ...they also buy large quantities of fresh cherry from the majority of coffee farmers who do sell at the cherry level, and then ...those processors sell that coffee to blenders! The processors want to buy coffee at the lowest possible price and the farmers want to earn their living. CONFLICT!

The blenders then take their coffee bags put in 90% unknown coffee beans and 10% Kona Coffee beans and sell that bag for an enormous profit on their 10% Kona. Kona Blend! barf

The Kona Coffee Farmers Association is a volunteer, non-profit, community-based organization of coffee farmers with the mission to promote and protect the economic interests of Kona coffee farmers who grow and sell 100% Kona coffee and to seek greater legal protection of the Kona coffee name

"Just wanted to thank you for the great service, and to let you know I think the coffee is wonderful! I've never tried Kona coffee before and, frankly, I was expecting to be disappointed. The quality of your beans surpassed my expectations in every way, and certainly ranks among the best tasting coffee I've ever had. Really outstanding!!" P.D.

Happy plants make exquisite coffee and that's what we have!

What is green coffee?

GREEN Coffee is coffee that has been picked, wet processed & dried & milled & its very next step is for YOU, the roaster, to roast. It is unroasted coffee.

Makes your kitchen smell delicious too:)

"I need your kona greenbean again. This time faster for my coffee friends become more and more and my kona coffee usage is very large" HL from Taiwan

We sell our 100% Kona green in amounts from 1 pound on up.

The maximum we can sell by Law, in one order, is 10 pounds of green beans.

We offer roasted coffee grinding, too.  You can order your whole roasted beans ground in our Bunn 3 grinder burr grinder.  $1 per pound . Just check it off on your order form. Help us pay off the grinder:)It is an exceptional grinder and you may just want to throw away your whirly blade and have us do your grinding!

FYI:  The Grades of Kona coffee as ruled by the State of Hawaii, Department of Agriculture are:

Kona Extra Fancy= is the largest bean size, 19/64ths of an inch, with the least allowed number of defects allowed --less than 10 defects per pound.

Kona Fancy = 18/64" and 16 or less defects per pound

Kona No. 1 =16/64" and 20 or less defects per pound

Kona Prime = Beans of any size, 15% defective beans by weight

There are two kinds of Kona coffee beans. Type I which is 2 beans per fruit and all of the above are considered Type I and ....PEABERRY: Type II which is just one round bean per fruit and occurs in only about 5% of the entire crop

 Satisfaction is Guaranteed

If you are ever unhappy, we will replace it immediately & gratefully.

We feel that all the grades of our coffee are equally delicious. We treat each bean with the same care!

*"ESTATE GRADE RUN" is our own SMITHFARMS definition for our  "Extra Fancy", "Fancy" and "Number one" grade beans as they naturally occur in our Smithfarms coffee crop.  We take out the Peaberry and remove the grades below "Number one".  This was suggested to us, by a roaster friend years ago because the size difference between the largest and the smallest in our Estate Grade Run is all of 3/64ths of an inch. He felt it would give it a slight multidimensional pure awesome Kona Coffee flavor and we've never looked back. He was right. YUM!

We are a high elevation, (1700 - 2000 feet above sea level!) slower growing coffee farm. With the natural shade given by our clouds, we tend to have a larger amount of bigger beans.  Tastier too, say the experts.

But all our precious & gourmet 100% Kona coffee grows at its perfect pace, with sunny mornings and afternoon cloud cover during the wet summer growing months and our dry cool winter harvest season.

Pennsylvania absorbing sun at the back door.

(I wonder if her black spots get hotter than her white spots.?)

Smithfarms "Estate Grade Run" Coffee

OUR  ROASTED  COFFEE IS:

WHAT?

whole bean, freshly roasted, lusciously dark but not burnt

It is roasted to perfection by Bob Smith who grows and bags it as well as doing the perfect roast! He thinks our roaster makes it even tastier, if you can imagine!

Did I tell you he is the farmer of the beans with a BS degree in Tropical Agriculture, too? About the only college educated Kona Coffee farmer that I know of in Kona!

Grinding your whole beans, in our professional grinder aka "Ruby", is only $1/pound

Ruby is our BunnG3 grinder and she is sitting under a wall hanging made by our best buddy, and next to one of our pound bags:)
